Seven Ways to Pray

After reading the comments to my last post I realize how the late Pope was viewed by different cultures in different places. I agree that mere prayers are window dressing if not coupled with action.
I have been working with someone to change myself from an angry person to a more peaceful person. You may have read some of my poems here before, this is the latest one.

Seven Ways to Pray

One

Whisper a Good-Morning
breath of hope
before your eyes open.

Two

When your cold side says hurry,
but the warm side begs:
take your leisure,
try to find the time and place for each.

Three

Watch a child chip and peel
the shell from a soft boiled egg.

Four

Realize that all the world’s worry
doesn’t accomplish as much
as the Robin that just pulled
a worm from the dew soft grass.

Five

Smile at strangers.
Smile at animals.
Smile at the mirror.

Six

Find the beauty
in what you already possess.

Seven

Share everything.
