Thanksgiving Day
Like a highballing freight
Thanksgiving eve arrived.
Wind whistled at the windows,
delivering a heavy load.
The wet, wintry coat
strained wires,
left homes cold and dark.
But season's first snowfall
made yards peaceful and white
and hearts warm and bright
come Thanksgiving day.
