Quit Paying Sixty Minutes
That's right, you thought shows like Sixty Minutes, Forty Eight Hours and the like were free, but you are paying for them every day.
Top network newscaster salaries have gone through the roof. Tom Brokaw is reported to be getting between seven and eight million dollars a year. Katie Couric is supposedly receiving between twelve and fifteen million dollars a year.
How can the networks afford those kinds of salaries? Easy, they sell advertising. A thirty second television commercial never runs in prime time for less than $150,000.00.
On some shows it is more than triple that. When E.R. was at it's zenith a thirty second spot went for $600,000.00.
And that is where you come in. You are paying Sixty Minutes, all those journalists, and their bosses every time you buy the products advertised on their shows. The same journalists that want you to think they are so concerned with your well being are living like kings on your money. The products they advertise aren't any better than the generic brands, but with a spiffy looking box or label, and billions in advertising, they can convince you to gladly pay too much for the products you use every day.
Stop throwing away your money. Stop buying those brands, stop watching Network News.

The New Disease
The government has now declared obesity a disease. Great.
I was worried for a while there that it might actually be my fault.
That perhaps if I stopped shoving food into my pie hole, then I might not have to struggle into my slacks, or let out the belt another notch.
I was concerned that I might actually have to get off my big ass and walk once in awhile in order to keep said ass small enough to fit into the easy chair I watch television from six hours a day.
But now there is no guilt, and no personal accountability. The government has decreed it.
What a pile of steaming horse shit.
The funny thing is, this is just one step closer to a scenario where some day some one will take away all your free choices. Some one from the government.
