The Best of Times

My son looked so happy at his wedding that I cried. I cried because he and I haven't always been friends. It's not always possible to be a parent and a friend. When your son gets two alcohol related driving offenses in two years, it's hard to be a good parent without seeming like a drill sergeant. So I cried because I was happy that this woman made him so happy. She is able to give him a happiness that his parents couldn't. It's always good to see someone smile.
