New Friends
Oh, friend, let me tell you
of someone new I’ve met.
She’s interesting, not from here,
and cute, of course, but inteligent too.
She’s not like us, dusky and mysterious really,
rather exciting I think.
And I like her accent, and the way she tries
to speak English, though I’m not at all
certain you’ll understand her.
“Me too, I’ve met a girl today, an odd one,
and not from here, over there somewhere
someplace strange where they don’t understand
anything about us. She’s got a nice shape, but
rather plain really, too dark for my tastes you know,
and hardly speaks a lick, I wasn’t half sure
what she said all day.”
Well. friend, why not come along to the corner café?
It’s near on six and my new friend is meeting me.
“Me too! The plain one asked me to join her and
some other fellow she’s met, and six it is I’ll bet.”
Well friend it seems your girl is late but there’s
my lass alright.
“I don’t know what your speaking of, but there is mine,
and as I said, now isn’t she a fright?”
